(a chill runs up the length of his spine, soren's words making him think back on the times he's spent with viren. twice, once at the bonfires and another at his cottage; he seemed mellow, if a bit judgemental. he was reluctant enough about their interactions to seem almost worried he was asking too much. but jonas offered, and jonas came through on that. maybe he is naive, or impressionable.
you gotta be careful, with him.
soren looks weary, wary, and he trusts the friend he's made. it doesn't stop him from feeling incapable of handling future situations, especially equipped with this knowledge, but first and foremost? he has to take the knight's feelings into account. his slow pace is corrected, jogging forward to get a hand on soren's pauldron with a dull metal noise. it slides to seek what little he can feel of his shoulder beyond, palm coming to rest on the collar of his breastplate.)
Forget the plant, just stop a sec. (watching him a moment, before the corner of his mouth ekes out a smile.) ... I think I'm right all the time, too. Then I'm mostly dead wrong about people. I've fallen for that, like, way too many times. Not in the same way—I don't get it, really—but I hear what you're saying and I appreciate the warning. I'll be careful.
You too, okay? It's alright to be serious sometimes. I, you know, wanna' hear this kinda' stuff from you. We're buds, right?
(lifts his hand to rap knuckles against his chest, gesturing on ahead.)
So if you ever need to vent about him or anything else, I'm your guy. And, uh, they didn't actually say? It's probably really pretty, if it can heal someone. Maybe look for something bright, delicate, and... flowery? (back to being numbskulls.) If I were a cool flower, what would I look like? Probably all glow-y and fluffy.
[Soren does stop, looking a bit surprised that Jonas didn't just... brush him off. He's pretty used to that, after all. People tend to think he's not able to be serious, too much of a goofball for it, so being stopped and heard is... it's nice!
Soren beams,]
Y, yeah. We're buds. Definitely! [and, sincere as ever]
Thanks. I... think that's all I really wanted to say. [there's a lot more, but it's not for right now. That would be too much. Another time, though, maybe...
Back to be numbskulls is better. He reaches out to ruffle Jonas' hair with rough playfulness]
Fluffy sounds about right! Weird and one of a kind, I'd bet.
(jonas is never on the receiving end of hair ruffles, as tall as he is, so he ducks his head and leans into it with a low laugh. it feels nice, amicable, comforting. and it's good for them both, bonding out here like this. soren's a good guy.)
Alright, alright, we're good... nothing to see here... (time to rein the emotions in and get to hunting.)
I'm gonna' take all that as one big compliment, just so you know. Now we've gotta' keep our eyes peeled for some old tree. The guy called it a "crying tree," but that's about all he could give me for info.
[Soren laughs off the seriousness with Jonas, glad he's so chill. Time to focus up, though! They have a quest! Ahem...]
"Crying tree", huh... like ahh, what's that one kind called? With the long, hanging branches? A weepy-wallow? [weeping willow would be what he means, but Soren's far from an expert on... tree... ology...]
Probably? But, you know, the "weeping willow" version of "weepy-wallow." (if there's something jonas actually knows a thing or two about it's trees. trees are awesome, but the ones in the wilde kind of freak him out. they're all gnarled, spooky, and some carry the stains of cwyld infection.) Careful around these guys, though; I can't treat Cwyld infections yet.
It's horrible what it does to the wildlife out here...
